July 13 - Sunday Promises The Rev. Jennifer Innis, Minister, UU Church of Midland

On any given Sunday, we Unitarian Universalists make a promise to each other. However, every week we must renew that commitment and make it relevant. Why do we make such a commitment and how shall we live this promise?

July 20 - The Ecology of Aging: Rebecca Elon, MD, Oh.D, Associate Professor, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine

The Ecology of Aging frames human aging as an environmental issue. A specialist in geriatrics, Dr. Elton will trace an environmental metaphor used to understand the human life cycle through ancient and modern, religious and secular literature. Much of the suffering experienced in America as we age and die is the result of our refusal to acknowledge the ecology of aging. An understanding of aging as an environmental issue as an environmental issue may help us to age successfully, individually and collectively.

July 27 - What Can I Say When I Disagree with What Someone Says They Believe?: The Rev. Diana Heath, co-Minister of the Denton UU Fellowship

It is said that UUs enjoy a good discussion, but often, if a friend, relative, or another UU outs forth something they believe, you hesitate to "get into it." Here are some tools for your tool kit to have meaningful discussion instead of ignoring it or having a rant. Otherwise, are we only speaking to those with whom we agree?

August 3 - Just a Plain, Brown Paper Bag Rebecca Crystal, Ministerial Student

Language etymology allows us to discover where the words we use come from. Some of our words have pasts that would disallow current usage of them for Unitarian Universalists. Come hear what words you may be using that might choose never to use again!
