The Mothers of Invention Have Tongues of Fire

Fifty days after Passover and the death of Jesus, the Holy Spirit rushed through the apostles, giving them the gift of languages, but much more: the divine spark that necessitates action. For rational thinkers and science lovers, such a tempestuous wind, such “tongues, as of fire” may smell suspicious, of frenzy or ecstatic madness. But to be divinely inspired? What could be more human than that?
