You&#8217;ll find that ours blends traditional elements with modern touches, and includes some ritual elements each week, without being too formal or stuffy. Our intention is to provide a welcoming space where each of us feels at ease, and is able to find a peaceful or more reflective state of being.<\/p>\n<p>Elements of our Sunday morning\u00a0worship service include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Words of welcome<\/li>\n<li>Lighting a chalice, the symbol of our faith<\/li>\n<li>A \u201cmessage for all ages\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Instrumental music, plus hymns we sing together<\/li>\n<li>A time for lifting up the joys and concerns of members<\/li>\n<li>A prayer offered by our worship leader, followed by time for silent reflection, prayer, or meditation.<\/li>\n<li>An opportunity to light a candle in honor, reflection, or prayer<\/li>\n<li>Readings from diverse sources, ancient or contemporary<\/li>\n<li>A sermon given by a professional minister, guest speaker, or a member of the congregation<\/li>\n<li>An offering, during which we accept financial donations for the church or various charitable causes we support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our worship year includes various seasonal and holiday services. For example, come December, our worship services will blend Christian, Jewish, and Pagan elements as we reflect together on the meaning and significance of Christmas, Hanukkah, and Yule.<\/p>\n<p>Other special services include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Multigenerational plays and pageants<\/li>\n<li>Music Sundays, featuring longer and more varied musical performances<\/li>\n<li>Ingathering, also known as Water Communion, an annual ceremony that begins our liturgical year in the fall<\/li>\n<li>Flower Communion, a uniquely UU tradition celebrating our beauty and diversity<\/li>\n<li>Life milestones such as\u00a0child dedications, coming-of-age ceremonies, and new member dedications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each Sunday, we offer childcare (including nursery care) and learning programs for children and youth during worship service, from 9 to noon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unitarian Universalist worship styles vary by congregation.
