This means we affirm and include folks who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ)* at every level of congregational life\u2014in worship, in our programming, and in fellowship- welcoming them as whole people, just as they are, with all of the gifts, talents, and spirit they have to share.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/content.uuatheme.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/welcoming-congregation.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As a Welcoming Congregation we have pledged to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>honor the lives and experiences of all people without regard for sexual orientation or gender identity<\/li>\n<li>celebrate diversity by using inclusive language and content in worship.<\/li>\n<li>incorporate an understanding of the experience of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer persons throughout all of our programs, including religious education.<\/li>\n<li>affirm and celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer issues and history.<\/li>\n<li>affirm marriage equality and conduct same-sex weddings.<\/li>\n<li>advocate for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people, promoting justice, freedom, and equality in the larger society.<\/li>\n<li>speak out when the rights and dignity of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people are at stake.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">We recognize that there\u2019s always something more to learn, and remain open to deepening our understanding about the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><em>*There are additional identities and orientations we include in our welcoming but which are not specifically referenced in this abbreviation, for example intersex and asexual.
