Job Posting: Faith and Justice Coordinator, Part-time

Community Unitarian Universalist Church (CUUC)in Plano, Texas is a welcoming congregation affiliated with Unitarian Universalist Association. We are committed to spiritual growth, social justice, and community connection. Our congregation partners with Texas Unitarian Universalist Justice Ministries (TXUUJM) and other organizations on issues such as protecting democracy, reproductive justice, and LGBTQ+ rights.

We are seeking a Faith and Justice Coordinator to help integrate our educational programs with social justice organizing and to deepen the connection between faith and action. This position reports directly to the minister.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Social Justice Team to expand and coordinate CUUC’s social justice initiatives, ensuring integration with the Religious Education Program, the broader congregation, and the North Texas community.
  • Assist the Religious Education Program by gathering materials, communicating with families and teachers, recruiting and supporting RE teachers, and teaching a class.
  • Participate in congregational life, including worship, communications, and community activities that support the overall mission of the church.

Qualifications & Skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in theology, religious studies, or education preferred (not required).

Experience

  • Experience with liberal religious faith communities, including working with volunteers and leaders.
  • Project management experience.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of social justice issues and community organizing.
  • Familiarity with the Unitarian Universalist faith tradition.

Personal Qualities

  • Strong communication and relational skills.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Organizational ability with attention to detail.
  • Passion for social justice and community engagement.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Position Details

  • Part-time: 10 hours per week at $20/hour.
  • Work is primarily on-site at CUUC on Wednesday afternoons/evenings and weekends, with some flexibility for off-site work.
