June Bruns, 81, passed away at her home in Frisco, Texas on September 21. June was born on December 16, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Rosalie Savini. She was the valedictorian of the Wauconda High School class of 1962 and attended the University of Illinois. After her sophomore year she married her college sweetheart Robert (Bob) Bruns. The newlyweds then moved to Minneapolis, and she graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1966.
June is survived by her husband of 61 years, her daughters Leslie Gleason (Nathan) and Kristen Lokey (Justin), five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, as well as her sister, Teri Culbertson (Robert), her brother-in-law, Rex Bruns (Nancy), her sister-in-law, Debbi Savini, and eight nieces and nephews. Her brother, John Savini, predeceased her in 2021.
After graduating from college, June worked for the Minnesota State Employment Service as a claims adjudicator and later for ADP in New Jersey as an unemployment hearing representative.
Upon moving to Texas, June trained and worked as a volunteer mediator. After earning her paralegal certificate, June worked as an employment law paralegal for various Dallas area law firms (Jenkens & Gilchrist, Jones Day, John McFall), before being recruited by Frito-Lay in Plano, Texas. She worked for Frito-Lay for almost 14 years, retiring in 2006 as a law department supervisor.
June volunteered at many non-profit organizations over the years, including the League of Women Voters, the American Association of University Women, Habitat for Humanity, and various Unitarian churches, including her most recent church home, the Community Unitarian Universalist Church in Plano, Texas
