June McKinney Pride Festival – Record Turnout!

What started as a very wet Sunday turned into an incredibly successful day at McKinney Pride this past Sunday, June 7th.
The event had record-breaking turnout for the festival, despite the mud and the heat and that shows as the CUUC booth had people waiting 3-4 deep to receive Glitter Blessings from the volunteers. Special shout out to Candace Clayton, Kellye and Tricia Culberth, Elena Westbrook, Cherie Crim, and Scarlet Waterson, who not only helped setup and tear down the booth, also administered the blessings (sometimes with glitter, sometimes without) as well as distributing rainbow mardi gras beads, temporary tattoos, friendship pins, and lots of information about the church. Many people were quite moved by the blessing, often sending friends over to get their own. A few people expressed interest in visiting the church after talking with the volunteers and seeing the booth!
