This year as we tender our thanks—to the universe, the cosmos, God, one another—we’re reminded that in hard times, our gratitude may be for hard-won victories. There are friendships forged in comradeship against oppression. There is the knowledge of how beloved we are to our communities, which often comes when we fall on our own hardest times. There is the love that has survived disagreement and anger. And there is the grace we’ve been given and that we have received.
