Speaker: Sandy Schneider

Sandy Schneider is a public school teacher with 25 years of experience. She grew up in Connecticut. Then, she attended Vanderbilt University, where she majored in Elementary Education. Her first years of teaching were in Atlanta, where she earned her M.Ed. from Emory University. After that, she taught in Minnesota, New Jersey, and Louisiana, where Sandy was honored as a Teacher of the Year State Finalist. In 2010, she moved to Allen, and Sandy has been teaching in Allen ISD ever since. In 2011, she earned her National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist and is an active member of the Texas National Board Coalition for Teaching. In 2023, she was awarded a Fulbright-Hays Summer Seminar Abroad fellowship in Jordan. During that time, she became familiar with a non-governmental organization called Squash Dreamers, which serves refugees and disadvantaged girls in Amman. Having a passion for equity in education and English language literacy, she developed a plan for a Dreamers Library. She carried it out with the Squash Dreamers in July of this year. Sandy is now passionate about sustaining and growing the Dreamers Library to promote freedom through literacy.
